This 11 articles in this publication focus on the evolution and varied nature of China’s relations with the Middle East. Specific examples of the issues tackled by the articles include 1) China’s security strategy in the Middle East; 2) its military relations with the states in the region; 3) its role in the Iran nuclear negotiations; 4) the significance of China’s Uyghur population for Beijing’s relations with Middle East and Muslim countries; and 5) the economic, social and cultural implications of China’s One Belt, One Road initiative.
