In the wake of the Oslo Accords, everyone believed the security cooperation established between Israel and the Palestinian Authority was a unique ‘success story’ in the Middle East peace process. This analysis describes why this working relationship is now in danger and what might happen if it falls apart. The possible consequences include the resurgence of armed militias, the undermining of a two-state peace agreement, and less pragmatism in ongoing negotiations.
