This brief discusses the upcoming CELAC-EU summit in San Salvador. Given the current political climate, the brief’s author argues that Latin American and Caribbean Countries (LAC) need to work closely with Europe in order to maintain the existing liberal economic order. However, due to the lack of multilateral institutions, corruption, and the current economic downturn in LAC countries, the author doesn’t expect the summit to yield anything more than ‘moderate’ results.
