This publication discusses trade in hydrocarbons between Russia and Central Asia. It argues that this type of trade is mainly between Russia, on the one side, and Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on the other. The authors explain that export of hydrocarbons from Kazakhstan to Russia is mainly in the form of oil, while from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan it is in the form of natural gas. The publication summarizes the factors that will influence the development of the oil and gas trade in the Russian and Central Asian sphere.
