This paper examines public attitudes and perceptions of the Czech Republic's accession to NATO in the context of defense issues and the military. The authors' findings are that the Czechs value and support the security that NATO membership offers and as a result are more willing to invest in national defense and military modernization. The paper concludes that the main source of hesitation towards NATO is a perception of a low level of influence that the public has on decision-making regarding security issues.
