This publication discusses the victory of the Socialist Party in Albanian elections. The author argues that corrupt practices in the second and subsequent rounds of the election were overlooked by the international community and Organization for Security Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in the interests of stability and this was a mistake. The publication concludes that as a consequence, political elites in Albania lack political legitimacy in government and that this could lead to frustrated nationalism.
