This publication discusses the outcome of the first democratic election for the post-communist Kosovo assembly. The author argues that this was a landmark event similar in importance to the 1974 Constitution or the abolition of autonomy by former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic. The publication outlines the architecture of the assembly, the main political parties and details election statistics. The publication concludes that regional security concerns, particularly further fragmentation of Former Yugoslavia will remain in the forefront of western policymaker's minds.
