This publication examines the historical, economic and diplomatic relations between Romania, Moldova and Ukraine and discusses threats to regional security. The author argues that the balance of power and influence of other states like Germany and Russia has characterized the history of the region history with some referring to the area as the "lands in between" and "a buffer zone." The publication concludes that Romanian relations with Moldova and Ukraine have developed in a positive manner and are having a beneficial impact on the security and stability of the Black Sea region and to Europe as a whole.
