This paper focuses on the Grand Inga hydropower project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and wonders whether this is the best way to provide the country with a sustainable energy mix. After taking stock of the DRC’s energy status, the author argues that it should adopt a two track strategy that deploys both the Inga Project and renewable energy sources.
