This paper reviews the state of Ethiopia’s Foreign Affairs and National Security Policy and Strategy (FANSPS), which dates back to 2002. To inform this analysis, the text's author also examines Ethiopia’s relations with its neighbors, its role in the region and the threats to the country's security. Her conclusion is that the FANSPS currently focuses too much on domestic threats and underestimates external ones. As a result, she suggests its time for Ethiopia to update its foreign and security policy and adopt a more balanced approach.
