Where are Turkey’s energy relationships with Russia, Iran and Iraq heading, and what impact might they have on US-Turkish relations and American interests? To help answer these questions, this report looks at Ankara’s past foreign and energy policies towards Moscow, Tehran and Baghdad. The report concludes that 1) the Turkish government has a history of resisting US pressure when it comes to energy policies toward the three other states, and 2) Washington will continue to find it difficult to work with Ankara when trying to implement policies that impinge on the latter’s interests.
