This YES edition reviews the actors, policies and institutions that underpinned the EU’s foreign and security policies in 2016. The volume specifically looks at 1) Brussels’ 2016 Security and Defence Package; 2) the sanctions regimes it has in place against Russia, Ukraine, Iran and North Korea; 3) the various EU delegations and special representations that exist; 4) the thematic and geographic instruments through which the Union implements its external policies; 5) the agencies and bodies that support the CSDP; 6) the extent of defense spending, cooperation and technology development between member states; and 7) factsheets, maps, graphs and charts that deal with key external issues.
