We have reached the unsettled end of the post-Cold War era, argue this report’s authors. In practical terms, this means we’re seeing the erosion of Western power, renewed great power competition, the return of a worldwide ideological struggle, the intensification of general global disorder, and the uncertain purposes and cohesion of key international players. We have no choice but to get used to these realities, our authors conclude, as we stagger towards a new global political order.
