On 14 October 2013, Syria joined the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and agreed to destroy all of its CW stocks. Well, it hasn't turned out that way. This paper discusses how Damascus' subsequent violations of its CWC obligations has placed the landmark agreement at risk. The text's authors therefore believe that other states which are party the the CWC must ensure that the Syrian Goverment complies fully with the Convention's requirements.
