This brief, published roughly two years after the US-led campaign that brought an end to the Taliban regime, contains a number of articles exploring Afghan security issues. These range from military, police, and judicial reform to questions of disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration. Some articles also deal with broader topics, such as the role of women in Afghanistan and the connection between gender and security issues. The paper's contributors are members of various governmental, non-governmental, research, and academic institutions. The editor concludes the brief with a list of relevant policy recommendations.
