This paper examines the most influential Islamist groups in Lebanon today, their areas as well as their tools of influence. To understand the political transformations that are taking place among Lebanon's Sunna, the author argues, it is important to analyze to what extent the different Islamist groups embrace different political and social agendas and to examine their sources of funding and their constituencies. In addition, this paper sheds light on the criteria that govern the political alliances of these groups, while further addressing their stand vis-à-vis the current political conflict in the country.
