This report provides an American perspective on the US-Australia military alliance. It first details the state of the alliance and the geopolitical shifts underway in Australia’s immediate neighborhood. It then proposes four different approaches Canberra could take in order to enhance regional security and deterrence. Finally, the paper discusses how Australia can best align its future defense capabilities with both its operational environment and its emerging military strategy.
