This paper discusses the influence of Salafism in the Middle East which has been rising since the Arab Spring uprisings and, in particular, how diverse Kuwaiti Salafi groups have forged close ties with Salafis in other states. The author warns that competition among Kuwaiti Salafi currents has produced corresponding fissures in local Salafi communities in Lebanon and Syria, with far reaching consequences for each country.
