This commentary discusses the state of Spain's labor market in June 2014. It highlights that in the period between June 2013 and June 2014 the country saw the first year-on-year net rise in the number of jobs created since 2008. The author then briefly describes some of the improvements in Spain’s main labor market in 2014, outlines some of the country’s persistent structural problems and warns of the long way Spain still has to go before its economy will return to pre-crisis levels of unemployment.
