This commentary discusses the growth of Spain’s merchandise exports since 2008 contending that although these exports rose for a fifth consecutive year in 2014, the pace of growth has slowed. Among other issues, the author also examines how Spain’s export growth compares to that in other countries in Europe, the growth in Spanish exports to markets outside the EU, and what Spain can do to build upon its success in increasing exports since the global financial crisis.
