In light of Lesotho's snap February 2015 national election, this paper discusses some of the cyclical problems that have dogged politics in the country. These include fractious politics, a tradition of political violence, coups and shaky coalition governments. The author also discusses the interventions which the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has made in Lesotho as well as the concerns raised regarding the SADC's mediation efforts in the country.
