This report focuses on how South Sudan's near and distant neighbors are aggressively pursuing their own strategic and economic interests in the country. More specifically, the report looks at 1) the colliding interests between Sudan and Uganda in South Sudan, including Kampala's unilateral military intervention in the country; 2) the roles of Ethiopia and Eritrea in South Sudan's internal struggles; 3) Kenya's interest in South Sudan's oil resources; and 4) Egypt's desire to maintain the security of its largest water source, the Nile.
