This paper focuses on the problems refugees from Syria have created for Jordan. More specifically, the paper’s author highlights 1) the sheer scale of the problem (the UN has registered over 620,000 refugees in the country); 2) the strain that the refugees are putting on Jordan’s economy and resources, particularly since they live in host communities rather than refugee camps; 3) the increasingly negative public attitudes toward the refugees and how they are hindering the government’s ability to deal with the latter; 4) Jordan’s loss of faith in the international donor community; and 5) the implications of the refugee problem for the international community.
