This brief focuses on the role Greece can play in facilitating Macedonia's, Kosovo's and Albania's accession into the European Union. The text's authors contend that the EU and its northern member states must treat Greece as a full partner on migration and financial issues, and not merely as a subordinate. As a result, Greece will then be able to create a "positive dynamic" in the Western Balkans that will 1) help resolve outstanding foreign policy issues within the region, and 2) allow the EU to regain its leverage over internal reforms in the above countries.
