This report presents a national-level forecast for South Africa's water supply up to 2035. The text’s authors contend that the country is currently overexploiting its renewable water resources. Further, withdrawals are forecast to increase in the agricultural, industrial and municipal sectors. Meanwhile, much of the country’s water infrastructure is in disrepair and dam levels are dangerously low. The report suggests it is possible for South Africa to restore stability to its water system, but it will take significant financial investment and political will.
