This report takes a detailed look at the extended deterrence aspect of American strategy. Specifically, the author discusses 1) US extended nuclear deterrence commitments and how Washington plans to uphold them; 2) the main challenges to extended nuclear deterrence in Europe, East Asia, and the Middle East; and 3) options for adapting extended nuclear deterrence in light of these challenges.
