In response to the pressing political and economic problems it now faces, Zimbabwe’s government has committed itself to an economic reform program which includes reconnecting to international channels of credit and investment. But is this initiative credible? The answer is unclear because the political leadership in Zimbabwe, while desperate to maintain its hegemony, also knows it’s running out of options.
