Given that ISIS’s days are numbered, this study outlines various next-step counterterrorism options for the US. The ways ahead range from a surge in the global war on terror to withdrawing forces from the Middle East, The text’s authors believe the ideal option lies somewhere in the middle – i.e., a “medium footprint” that is basically an enhanced version of the Obama administration’s past approach.
