The four articles in this edition of the CTC Sentinel focus on 1) the implications of a June 2018 terrorist plot involving ricin by a Tunisian extremist in Cologne, Germany; 2) the July 2018 arrest of an Iranian diplomat in Germany for his role in an alleged plot to bomb an Iranian dissidents’ rally, and how this incident fits into the history of Iran’s assassination and terrorism activities in Europe; 3) the resurgence of the jihadi terror threat in Mauritania; and 4) the extent of the presence of the so-called Islamic State across Africa today. This issue also includes an interview with Hamish de Breton-Gordon, Former Commander of the United Kingdom’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Regiment.
