This paper examines 1) the negotiations that led to the nuclear deal with Iran; 2) the domestic factors in the country that will shape the deal’s implementation; and 3) the policy-related frictions the EU will inevitably have to confront while implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The stress points will be over the nuclear program itself; the lifting of sanctions against Iran; and the potential transformation of Iranian society.
