This text provides and analyzes anti-vehicle mine (AVM) incident data for 2016. It notes, for example, that 1) there were 181 actual or suspected AVM incidents in 22 states or territories in 2016; 2) these incidences caused 423 casualties, including 228 injured and 195 killed; 3) Afghanistan, Cambodia, Mali, Pakistan, and Ukraine were the five states with the most recorded AVM incidents; 4) Afghanistan, Mali, Pakistan, Syria and Ukraine were the states with the highest casualty rates; and 5) in post-conflict situations 87% of casualties were civilians, while in conflict settings the number dropped to 40 per cent. Last, the paper contains case studies on AMV incidents in South Korea, Ukraine and Iran.
