This brief provides a statistical portrait of recent EU defense spending and arms exports. The text’s graphs illustrate 1) how much the EU-28 spent on defense in 2016; 2) who were the biggest defense spenders around the globe (2012 versus 2016); and 3) what were the top destinations for EU-28 arms exports from 2007 to 2016.
